WEEK 9
REPORT WRITING CHAPTER 2
During this week, I worked on finishing up the literature review for chapter 2 of the proposal report. Below is a table of the papers that I have summarized.
Title |
Smart Parking System using IoT |
Smart Parking Space Detection using MATLAB and
Internet of Things |
Smart Automotive Parking System |
PLC-Based Automatic Intelligent Car Parking System |
Image Processing Based Intelligent Parking System |
Author |
Elakya, R., Juhi Seth, Pola Ashritha, & Namitha,

Zain Rajani & Michelle Araujo e Viegas (2017) |
Sasirekha, S., Ramkumar, S., Saranya, N. M.,
Sujasri, S., Swethaharini, M., & Valarmathi, S. (2020) |
Islam, F., Adil, M., & Alvi, S. A. (2017) |
Kaarthik, K., Sridevi, A., & Vivek, C. (2017) |
Objective |
To automate the management of the parking that
allocates an efficient parking space using IoT. |
To provide a solution for parking slot detection
based on an image processing technique that can capture and process the image to
find empty parking slots. |
To advance the facility in parking all over the
cities and aiming to provide ease to people. |
To ensure the safety of the driver as well as save
time and parking spaces. |
To provide an intelligent system that can inform on
the parking slot to the users. |
Method Used |
The system uses Arduino devices and an IR sensor along
with cloud-based web services. The user gets a notification on the available
spaces via SMS through the GSM module. |
The system uses MATLAB software and a camera
which monitors the movement of the vehicles in the parking lot.
|
Using an android application that is based ATmega328p
microcontroller, LCD for viewing the slot status. |
Uses a set of LDRs and IR sensors to ensure
effective and safe car parking management. The system works in three modes
such as ON, OFF and EMERGENCY. |
The camera is used to sense the empty space through
video image detection-based MATLAB software. |
